It's 6am in Sunday morning of Port Harcourt. It's easier to connect the internet. I have to go back to hospital but can start later today. I stay in the guest house which takes around 10 minutes to drive to hospital, depending on the traffic. We have to ride on MSF vehicle. It's a busy city. We pass a busy market everyday. Teme Hospital is located at center of an urban area. People bring in patients to emergency room. We only treat trauma patients. Some local doctors are helping the surgical team. It's not too many operated cases, around 10 to 14  a day, mostly orthopaedic. We should handle well, except the case turn over is slow. In between cases, we may need at least 45 minutes for cleansing, sending, checking patients etc. It's also because of space constraint. It's a three-storey building with no lift. Porters have to carry the patients up and down. It makes the finishing time late. The day before yesterday, I did the first laparotomy for patients with GSW(Gun-shot wound) at left hip. Luckily, there was no major injury, except retroperitoneal haematoma in pelvis. Yesterday I helped a local orthopaedic surgeon for one case of non-union fracture humerus, with bone graft and plating, one fracture dislocation ankle with plating and screw. It's interesting. I learn more orthopaedic. We finished at 7pm, the earliest day since I arrived. I enjoy working and learning much.
