Yesterday was a busy day. I was called back to the hospital at 7:30am and worked until 8pm, almost non-stop. I slept at 9:30pm after my supper and a bath, and woke up again at 5:30am. Fortunately, I had not been called. Or I might well be in a coma and they could not have woken me up.

This has been the most quiet and relaxing evening for me so far in Monrovia. Four people left yesterday. John and Mike are on emergency OT in the hospital. I'm off duty today. Other people are not around and I'm alone in the compound. I just finished dinner on my own.

I woke up early again at 00:30. I was kept awake because of so many stimulating thoughts.

I have to wake up early so that I can use the computer since the power supply is cut off at six. I worked hard yesterday and returned late, nearly at midnight.

I woke early again at 1:30am and could not fall asleep any more. I don't know whether it's because of the hot temperature, the excitement or the effect of the anti-malarial, Lariam. I haven't slept well for two nights.

After some hassle getting the plane to Monrovia, Liberia following the briefing session in Paris, I finally reached this city with the other surgeon, John, from Chicago, USA.
