Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Hong Kong is looking for a suitable individual with a strong desire to work in an international NGO for the following position to be based in Hong Kong:
 
Association Coordinator
 
Reporting directly to the President of the Board, the major responsibilities of this position are:
  • To act as MSF HK Association’s contact person in the region and MSF movement
  • To develop and implement the annual plan and budget of the Association
  • To plan and organize the Annual General Meeting of MSF Hong Kong and associative events/projects
  • To communicate with stakeholders (including but not limited to members, Board and office) on key governance issues and the latest associative development in the Movement
  • To update all existing policies on association to ensure that the Association is accountable to its members and resources are being used effectively and efficiently
  • To support and facilitate the regional association development
  • To effectively manage MSF HK Association and regional peers networks and connect with international Association
  • To provide briefing and debriefing to returned field workers, new office staff and volunteers on the Movement and MSF HK Association
  • To recruit new members, by approaching potential members including national staff, returned field workers, office staff, volunteers
  • To perform regular internal communication with members with the purpose of inspiring participation and contribution and establish communication links with and between members
  • To cultivate meaningful membership engagement that encourages members to take ownership of the Association and take part in the governance process in MSF
  • To design and manage all communication tools including social media, newsletter, and email of the Association
  • To work closely with the Board Assistant to ensure timely and effective communication of relevant issues between members and the Board, 
  • To support the Board Assistant during his/her absence
 
The Ideal Candidate
  • Genuine interest in, understanding of and commitment to the humanitarian principles, social mission, operations, and challenges of MSF
  • A university degree holder with 5 years of working experience preferably in communications, event management, project management, or relevant areas
  • Work experience gained from MSF or other NGOs is an asset
  • Knowledge of, and interest in governance issues and the values of non-governmental organization
  • Ability to think strategically on how to drive the development of the Association
  • Excellent communication skills including public speaking, networking, cross-cultural awareness and sound knowledge of using communication tools
  • Excellent oral and written fluency in English
  • Knowledge of Cantonese, Mandarin, and/or other languages is an asset for the position
  • A self-starter with stress tolerance, flexibility ability to handle large volumes of work, and track multiple projects and support multiple groups or activities at any one time
  • Flexibility to work additional/out of hours as necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role and willingness to undertake frequent travel
