This has been the most quiet and relaxing evening for me so far in Monrovia. Four people left yesterday. John and Mike are on emergency OT in the hospital. I'm off duty today. Other people are not around and I'm alone in the compound. I just finished dinner on my own.

I have to wake up early so that I can use the computer since the power supply is cut off at six. I worked hard yesterday and returned late, nearly at midnight.

I woke early again at 1:30am and could not fall asleep any more. I don't know whether it's because of the hot temperature, the excitement or the effect of the anti-malarial, Lariam. I haven't slept well for two nights.

After some hassle getting the plane to Monrovia, Liberia following the briefing session in Paris, I finally reached this city with the other surgeon, John, from Chicago, USA.
