Application Deadline Next Friday

MSF Orienteering Competition 2008, which will be held next month, is expected to be one of the biggest events in Ngong Ping on Lantau Island after the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car service will be reopened soon.

This is the first time for MSF Orienteering Competition to be held at Ngong Ping. On the day of event, near two thousand participants will gather together and support medical humanitarian relief work of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). Undoubtedly, this will help boosting up the economic activities in Ngong Ping.

It is the seventh year that MSF-Hong Kong (MSF-HK) organises the Orienteering Competition and it has been the largest event of its kind in Hong Kong since it was launched. The last MSF Orienteering Competition attracted over 1,600 enthusiastic participants from different walks of life.

"Your support helps us go miles and save lives!" is the theme of this year's competition. We hope to raise awareness among participants about the hardship of the vulnerable populations in getting access to health care in remote areas, and to provide an opportunity for participants to catch a glimpse of the challenges encountered by our field volunteers.

Corporate sector and government departments, such as Fire Services Department, Immigration Department and Social Welfare Department, have been very supportive in MSF Orienteering Competition in the past years. To encourage more organisations to send teams to join the event, we have newly established the Government Department and Public Organisation Trophy and the Corporate Sector Trophy, as well as the Inter-Secondary School Trophy. And the new "Top Ten Most Supporting Organisation Award" will be given to the first ten orgainsations with the most participants joining the competition.
