Financial Secretary Mr. John Tsang Chun-wah Calls On the Public to Donate a Day's Income and Volunteer for MSF

How important is a day's relief work of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) volunteers to the patients who are lack of access to health care in remote areas?

How important is a day's income of Hong Kong people to the patients who are lack of access to health care in remote areas?

Both are crucially important!

Over 2,200 volunteers work with MSF each year. They temporarily set aside their family and career to provide medical assistance to the population who suffer from natural disasters, epidemics, war or lack of access to health care in around 70 countries. However, not all members of the public in Hong Kong can join MSF and work on the front line.

"MSF Day 2008" Campaign thus provides a good opportunity for the public to volunteer for MSF in their workplace. MSF Hong Kong invite the public and the commercial sectors to donate a day’s income to MSF as being a volunteer for MSF on that day to help alleviate sufferings of those in need of medical assistance worldwide.

This year, with the slogan of "Let's Donate a Day's Income and Volunteer for MSF", we hope the Hong Kong public and enterprises from different sectors can join hands and support our relief work. We are honoured to have Mr. John Tsang Chun-wah, JP, Financial Secretary of the HKSAR, to be the Honourable Campaign Leader of "MSF Day 2008" and attend the kick-off ceremony on coming Sunday.
