Access Campaign
As Asia-Pacific leaders prepare to meet in Bali for the APEC Summit, where the 12-country Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement trade deal will be high on the agenda, MSF urged governments not to make political trade-offs during trade negotiations that will harm access to affordable medicines for millions of people.
 
Central African Republic 
More than 9,000 children from CAR are now protected against measles and polio, following the emergency intervention in Gadzi, north-eastern CAR, which started in August after the MSF teams had detected the population were lacking access to health facilities in this area. 
 
Chad
More than 40,000 new malaria cases have been treated by MSF in Am Timan, southeast of Chad and in Massakory, west of the country since July.  MSF has also deployed considerable means to respond to the crisis: supplying of health centres with medicines and rapid diagnostic tests, and mobile clinics to reach remote areas.
 
DRC
Armed groups clashed on 27 September in the North Kivu territory of Masisi in DRC. MSF immediately organised mobile clinics in order to provide emergency care to the people affected by these violent acts and is calling on the armed groups to respect the civilians in accordance with international humanitarian law. 
 
MSF has started a measles vaccination campaign to respond to the epidemic that has been devastating the country since 2010. This new project is aimed to treat confirmed cases to reduce mortality, and to develop new vaccination approaches that can be imitated by the Ministry of Health in order to contain the disease.
 
Gaza Strip 
In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, MSF extended its reconstructive plastic surgery programme at Gaza’s Nasser hospital in Khan Younis to Al-Shifa hospital.The programme provides treatment to victims of trauma, domestic accidents, burns and other injuries and aims to help patients regain optimum use of their limbs. 
 
Pakistan
Despite daily discussions with the Government of Pakistan, where two severe earthquakes hit the Awaran area of Balochistan province, MSF has not yet been granted permission to work in the affected area.
 
Syria
Some 60,000 refugees from Syria have crossed the border into the Kurdish region of Iraq since it reopened on 15 August after being closed for three months. MSF teams have set up health posts on both sides of the border, providing medical consultations and distributing water to refugees waiting to be transferred to transit camps.
