The 1st exhibition is at New Town Plaza I, Shatin

Imagine going to the doctor with a serious disease only to find out that a treatment exists, but that you are too poor to pay for it. Or that the only medicine available is decades old and no longer works - or that you may even die from the treatment! Although this rarely occurs in Hong Kong, this happens to thousands of people around the world every day.

In fact, one-third of the world's population has no access to essential medicines today, most of them are from developing countries. In 1999, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) launched the "Campaign for Access to Essential Medicines" to improve access to life-saving drugs.

To arouse awareness of the problem of access to essential medicines for those in need, MSF Hong Kong will organise a "No medicines for patients" exhibition introducing four infectious diseases, illustrating by patient's true stories. The four diseases are HIV/AIDS, sleeping sickness (human African trypanosomiasis), tuberculosis (TB) and malaria.

The first exhibition will be held on 17 June to 19 June, at Entrance Arena, New Town Plaza I, Shatin. To know more about the exhibition, please visit: http://nomed.msf.org.hk

In the coming months, we will organise the exhibtion in various shopping malls, the details are as follow:
17-19 June 2005 Entrance Arena, New Town Plaza I, Shatin
9-11 September 2005 Crystal Atrium, Metroplaza, Kwai Fong
23-25 September 2005 Central Atrium, G/F, Olympian City 2
