The two members of MSF Switzerland who were abducted north of Bunia, in Ituri (DRC) on June 2nd have been freed by their abductors this afternoon. They are in good health and have been safely reunited with the MSF team in Bunia.

MSF wishes to express its gratitude towards all the people who participated in the liberation process, in particular MSF wants to thank the various communities of Bunia and Ituri who have shown a great deal of support and have mobilized massively. MSF emphasizes that the release was secured without conditions.

Since 2003, MSF teams have been conducting emergency medical activities for all people of Ituri regardless of race, ethnic or religious affiliation, while respecting the most basic rules of humanitarian intervention independently from all military and political actors.
