11-5 | Huge numbers of people have suffered severe injuries during the war in Ukraine and face a serious risk of major long-term consequences due to a lack of rehabilitation skills and capacity in the healthcare system. Without adequate, early post-surgical treatment, their recovery may remain incomplete or take much longer than necessary, affecting their lives and weighing on an overburdened system.
10-14 | Since September 2022, parts of Syria including northeast Syria (NES) and northwest Syria (NWS) have been facing a major cholera outbreak. First linked to the contaminated water near the Euphrates River and the severe water shortage in the north of Syria, the outbreak has now spread across the country, and more than 13,000 suspected cases have been reported, including 60 deaths.According to Raqqa National Hospital, this is the first-time cholera has been confirmed in NES since 2007.
10-7 | Almost one million people are currently displaced in northern Mozambique after fleeing their homes in search of safety, due to the conflict that started in Cabo Delgado province in October 2017. Many people have been displaced multiple times, needing to abandon their few possessions, means of survival, loved ones and communities during each displacement. Living through such a prolonged conflict, with little to no prospect of a stable future, comes with profound mental health consequences.
