11-26 | On 1 November, one of the strongest typhoons in 2020 struck the Philippines. Goni, or Rolly as it’s known in the Philippines, caused widespread damage throughout the Bicol region, particularly Catanduanes and Albay provinces, around 300 km south-east of Manila. Just before it made landfall, Goni was rated as a category 5 typhoon, the most severe level.

9-25 | The COVID-19 pandemic has become very alarming in Iraq, with the country currently reporting close to 4,000 new cases every day and around 500 deaths a week. Just over the past month, more than 100,000 cases were identified in the country. And on September 23rd, 5,055 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed, representing the highest daily rate in the country since the beginning of the pandemic. Iraq’s capital Baghdad, is the worst hit city, with almost 30% of the country’s reported cases.
9-24 | The temporary shelter and primary healthcare project for the homeless initiated by Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) was handed over to the local non-governmental organisation “ImpactHK” on 15 September 2020. The project was collaborated with “ImpactHK” since June 2020 and was set up at a time when the tightened COVID-19 restrictions were in place, limiting the access of people experiencing homelessness to resources and support.
