12-23 | At least 222 people have been killed and 843 injured in Indonesia after a tsunami hit coastal areas along the Sunda Strait on Saturday night, according to the country’s National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB). Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams are currently in the affected area to provide support for local health interventions.
11-23 | In a bid to restore health services in Palu, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia in the aftermath of the triple disaster — earthquake, tsunami, and liquefaction that hit the area — MSF built a temporary health facility in the Dolo Selatan Sub-District to replace the health centre of Baulase as the health centre that covering 12 villages had been heavily damaged and was unusable leaving the people without access to medical care. 11-23 | MSF is currently wrapping up its emergency response in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. On 28 September, a series of earthquakes hit Indonesia’s Central Sulawesi Province caused significant damage and loss of life. As of 30 October, 2,101 people are known to have died. A further 4,438 people have been seriously injured. Search and rescue operations were stopped on 12 October.
10-1 | According to the official report of Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), as of 30 September 2018, the recent earthquake and tsunami in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia has resulted to the deaths of 832 people (821 of which are from Palu City and 11 from Donggala Regency). Also, 540 people are severely injured, 29 are missing, and a total of 16,732 people have been displaced.
