10-27 | An earthquake variously recorded at between 7.6 and 8.1 on the Richter scale rocked parts of northeastern Afghanistan and northwestern Pakistan on the afternoon of 26 October. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) medical projects in north western Pakistan were faced with an initial influx of seriously wounded in the first hours.
6-5 | One month after the earthquake struck Nepal, and only a few weeks before the monsoon rains start, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is racing against time to reach remote villages with medical supplies and shelter material.
6-2 | On Tuesday 2 June, a helicopter delivering humanitarian aid crashed in Sindhupalchowk district, Nepal. MSF regrets to confirm the death of three of its staff members in this crash. The team were delivering much-needed medical and humanitarian assistance in Sindhupalchowk district when the accident occurred. MSF extends its deepest condolences to the families and friends of our staff, and to those of the pilot of the helicopter, who was also sadly killed.
6-1 | In the first earthquake that hit Nepal on 25 April, people lost their loved ones, their homes and their belongings. Despite the massive destruction, they had no choice but to pick up the pieces and rebuild their lives. But just as they were getting started, the second earthquake hit. Half-reconstructed buildings came crashing down.
5-12 | A second earthquake today hit Nepal, this time with an epicentre 80km east of Kathmandu, in Dolakha district. Teams from Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) are conducting assessments in the affected areas, including Dolakha itself.
