With five weeks passed since an explosion occurred inside the maternity, wounding seven people, we still do not feel that the environment is secure for our patients and staff.

MSF insists that all parties to the conflict must fully respect the physical integrity of wounded people, doctors and healthcare facilities. MSF calls for increased political and diplomatic efforts to ensure the safety of patients and medical workers, without the use of force.

Tensions and hostilities continue unabated between South Sudan and its northern neighbour Sudan, and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is scaling up its emergency response by treating people injured in the latest violence, giving material and staff support to local clinics and hospitals, and providing relief to people displaced by the fighting.
