10-7 | Almost one million people are currently displaced in northern Mozambique after fleeing their homes in search of safety, due to the conflict that started in Cabo Delgado province in October 2017. Many people have been displaced multiple times, needing to abandon their few possessions, means of survival, loved ones and communities during each displacement. Living through such a prolonged conflict, with little to no prospect of a stable future, comes with profound mental health consequences.
8-25 | Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) spoke with five Rohingya people living in refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, to understand how they see their lives five years since being forcibly displaced from Myanmar. Representing the ages five, 15, 25, 45 and 65, together they span three generations of Rohingya living in the camps. They are all current or former patients of MSF.5 - I long for peace
8-18 | "On Sunday, August 14, at about 11 p.m., a group of armed men burst into the Raoul Pierre Louis hospital in the Carrefour area of Port-au-Prince. In an emergency room supported by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), these men with firearms seized a patient and coldly executed him just outside the hospital. This took place as we are planning to open an emergency centre in this area, west of Martissant, in 2023, and we are appalled by the barbarity of this killing which violates our humanitarian principles and the protection that this patient should have had in this hospital.
7-28 | Since last weekend, Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders is seeing a significant increase in the number patients wounded by stray bullets in its medical facilities in the capital. Since the start of violent clashes between armed groups in the peripheral neighborhoods, MSF’s Emergency Center in Turgeau has seen almost 80 people with gunshot wounds, most of them by stray bullets.
