6-16 | Heavy fighting resumed in Sudan’s capital after the end of the most recent ceasefire this week. MSF teams in Wad Madani have seen a worrying increase in the number of people arriving from Khartoum. Around 5,000 people were already living in three major camps around the city. In the last week, in one location where MSF is working, the number of displaced people has risen from 300 to 2,800. This rapid influx further highlights the urgent need for basic medical and other services to be provided to all people displaced in this conflict.

6-9 | El Geneina is a word that translates to "the garden" in Arabic, but the meaning lacks alignment with the current harsh reality that people there have recently been living through. It is estimated that at least around 500 people have been killed since the fighting began, and that a similar number of wounded remain trapped in the city, unable to access lifesaving treatment. No one can get into the city to help them, and no one can get them out. MSF has a surgical team waiting in Adré, Chad, but evacuation of the patients is currently impossible due to the ongoing fighting.
