11-8 | The deaths of two boys while awaiting approval for emergency medical care are just two of many tragic cases featured in a new report by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) that lays bare the cruelty of the long-term detainment of more than 50,000 people, the majority of whom are children, in Al-Hol, northeast Syria. Their stories, and others, have been documented in “Between two fires: danger and desperation in Syria’s Al-Hol camp”.
11-5 | Huge numbers of people have suffered severe injuries during the war in Ukraine and face a serious risk of major long-term consequences due to a lack of rehabilitation skills and capacity in the healthcare system. Without adequate, early post-surgical treatment, their recovery may remain incomplete or take much longer than necessary, affecting their lives and weighing on an overburdened system.
10-7 | Almost one million people are currently displaced in northern Mozambique after fleeing their homes in search of safety, due to the conflict that started in Cabo Delgado province in October 2017. Many people have been displaced multiple times, needing to abandon their few possessions, means of survival, loved ones and communities during each displacement. Living through such a prolonged conflict, with little to no prospect of a stable future, comes with profound mental health consequences.

8-18 | "On Sunday, August 14, at about 11 p.m., a group of armed men burst into the Raoul Pierre Louis hospital in the Carrefour area of Port-au-Prince. In an emergency room supported by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), these men with firearms seized a patient and coldly executed him just outside the hospital.This took place as we are planning to open an emergency centre in this area, west of Martissant, in 2023, and we are appalled by the barbarity of this killing which violates our humanitarian principles and the protection that this patient should have had in this hospital.
