The international medical humanitarian organisation Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is looking for a suitable candidate for the following position to be based in Beijing:

Digital Communications Officer (Beijing)

Reporting to the Head of Communications in Beijing, this position is responsible for developing of public communications strategy in mainland China, as well as promoting the awareness of MSF’s worldwide activities and humanitarian concerns via social media.

Key Responsibilities:

• With the direction of Head of Communications in Beijing and advice from Regional Digital Communications Manager in Hong Kong, develop new digital communications strategy in China to be in compliance with the overall public communications strategy of MSF

• Maintain and manage MSF’s account on Sina Weibo, Weixin, and other registered social media accounts in China

• Manage/Produce/Adapt audio-visual materials for public communication

• Manage publishing schedule and content for MSF accounts on video platforms and other multimedia sharing platforms, and establish a constructive working relationship with those platforms

• Manage updates of msf.org.cn and msf-seasia.org

• Monitor and develop new technologies to be introduced to the websites and online platforms

• Translate  press releases, web articles and other MSF communications dossiers, pitch and contribute material to key online media

• Monitor media reports and correct wrong information and wrong usage of MSF name when in need

• Produce MSF publications in mainland China in collaboration with other colleagues

• Promote public events and other visibility activities in Beijing and other cities, and when necessary assist in the event organisation and production

• Organise public webinars to facilitate the sharing of returned field workers with web users in China

The Ideal candidate would have:

• University graduate

• Minimum 1 year of experience in the field of online communications, PR or marketing, or advertisement industry

• Strong interest in humanitarian affairs; Commitment to the aims and values of Médecins Sans Frontières

• Sound knowledge of internet and multimedia development in China, has to be social media-savvy and sensitive to online trends and netizen’s perspectives on current issues.

• Experience in online / social media platform maintenance is desirable

• Ability to generate content and engage interest with online and social media channels

• Excellent writing skills in Chinese and effective spoken and written English

• Experience in translation and copy writing

• Proficiency in MS Office and other common computer softwares, and Internet usage with knowledge of website production, Photoshop photo retouching, Flash & video/audio editing

• Excellent team spirit, good team-player

• Strong organisational and negotiating skill

• Creative and innovative with strong graphic sense

• Well-developed marketing abilities

• High flexibility with ability to work under pressure and to respect deadlines
